When we think about online sex work, chances are that most people’s minds will go straight to live sex camming. It is by far the most popular kind of sex work offered online, which is why there are hundreds of sites dedicated completely to the profession.
However, a less well-known alternative form of sex work is slowly but surely making its presence felt. It is, in fact, not something that we’d necessarily associate with sex work in the first place, but it is more something you’d expect between partners or FWBs.
I’m talking, of course, about getting paid to sext. Sexting isn’t just about sending sexually explicit messages – it also includes sending nudes or sexually explicit videos.
And again, while we don’t tend to associate sexting with professional sex work, the fact is that there’s a growing market for professionals who will sext with paying clients. And what’s more, it’s relatively lucrative – while being much less intensive than camming or traditional sex work.
Chances are that you’re now falling over yourself in a bid to figure out where you can get in on this low-effort, high-paying occupation and get paid to sext. If that’s the case, don’t worry – I’m here to point out the way.
Let’s take a look at four of the best websites for sexting work that offer the unique chance to get paid to sext and do what you love!
FlirtBucks is a sexting website that’s perfect for beginners looking to break into the sexting game. There’s no requirement for nudity or sexually explicit activity, and it’s limited to texting and video chats only.
FlirtBucks has it built into its terms of service that you will not need to take your clothes off or engage in any sexual activity, and you’re able to terminate calls at any time you’d like if you’re not feeling comfortable.
That said – it is a sexting service, and dirty talk goes with the territory, if nothing else. Clients won’t be calling you to chat about the weather or their weekly shop, so you must be comfortable with at least talking about sexually explicit topics.
The pay is pretty good, considering what you’ll be doing. Text chat pays 10 cents a minute, while video calls go for 40 cents a minute. These scale up the longer you’ve been working with FlirtBucks, and after a year, you can be earning 15 cents/50 cents per minute for each respective type of chat.
MyGirlFund dubs itself a ‘virtual girlfriend experience’. It’s basically a kind of GoFundMe but for hot chicks. The users (whom the website dubs ‘guys’ because let’s face it – 99.9% of clients using these things are exactly that) text and video-call the girls on the website, who in turn flirt with them in exchange for payment.
There are no set fees on myGirlFund, and it’s entirely up to you what you charge for your time. The website has its own proprietary ‘credit’ currency, which is pegged to the US dollar on a 1:1 basis.
Pay-out options are limited compared to some other sexting platforms (only Skrill or physical check payments are possible), but it’s reliable, as the clients pay upfront, so there’s no possibility of getting stiffed.
Sexually explicit content is not forbidden by the platform, but it’s not mandatory, either. MyGirlFund is, then, a very laissez-faire platform when it comes to sexting.
This website markets itself as an online dating website where the dating stays permanently online. That might not suit everybody’s tastes, but if you’re looking to get paid for sexting, it couldn’t be better.
Phrendly isn’t explicitly about sexting, and in theory, both parties can earn money from chats, gifts, and video calls. In practice, however, the male users will be messaging the female ones – and whoever initiates contact pays for the conversation using the platform’s proprietary ‘drink’ system.
When a user messages you on Phrendly, they are said to be ‘sharing a drink’ with you. Every time you respond to them, you are ‘taking a sip’ of that drink. The more you respond (and the more they respond), the more you earn from that conversation.
One drink costs $10 and has 20 ‘sips’. This means that every reply you make costs the other user 50 cents – of which you get 35 cents.
When it comes to video calls, you set your own rate by deciding how many ‘drinks per minute’ you’re going to charge. You get to keep 70% of your video-call earnings but need to pay a $0.20 connection rate first.
Phrendly isn’t the explicit sexting experience that some of the other options on this list are, but it’s a good money-maker if you’re after an online dating experience where you don’t need to meet up.
Some sexting websites are coy about what, exactly, they’re offering. Not so with Arousr, which couldn’t be more open about what you’re getting on their website.
Arousr has a number of ways for its ‘Chat Hosts’ to engage with clients and thus get paid. It’s primarily a sexting website, so the most popular way to converse with clients is via text.
This doesn’t mean that you can, for instance, be a 50-year-old guy looking to make a few extra bucks with a catfish profile. Arousr requires that all members verify their accounts with up-to-date photos so they (and your clients) know what they’re paying for.
There are also phone-sex and video-chat options, should that be your thing. These options are obviously more lucrative but require a little more exposure.
You can also post pics and clips, which users can buy for a price you set. However, If you want to keep things purely at a sexting level, you’re more than free to do so.
You can expect to earn 15 cents per message that you (not the other user) send in the text chat, which can quickly add up. For video and content uploads, you get 60%, and for voice chats, you get a set rate of $0.70/minute.
If you’re in the market to make a little extra money with some (extremely) light sex work, then you could do much worse than consider some of the sexting options I’ve highlighted above. Just remember to keep it sexty, and the money will soon be rolling in.
